Nose Job

Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is the most frequently performed aesthetic surgery in our country. It is the process of reshaping the nose. In this surgery, besides deformities, structural breathing problems can also be eliminated.
  • What is done in the pre-operative examination?

The pre-operative examination is the assessment of your general health status. Your current diseases, medications, and previous operations are checked.

Then your detailed examination is performed. The size of your nose compared to your face is evaluated. The arch, the tip, and the angle with the upper lip, and the relationship of your nose with your whole face are evaluated. Your breathing problems, if any, will also be checked.

Before each plastic surgery, your photos are taken and the surgery is planned by drawing just before the surgery.

  • Where will my scar be? Will it be permanent?

If our surgery is performed with a closed technique, you will not have a visible scar. In the open technique, which we rarely use, there will be a scar on the part of the nose called the columella (the part that separates your nostrils). We inform you in detail.

The scar left in the surgery will be permanent. Although it is more obvious at first, it will become vague within 1 year.

  • How is the shape of the nose decided?

We can decide on the shape of your nose in line with your expectations, in accordance with the structure of the rest of your face, and in a way that will not cause breathing problems, in our pre-operative examination.

  • How is rhinoplasty surgery performed? How many hours does it take?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It takes about 2-3 hours. Your nose is shaped according to the pre-operative planning. At the end of the surgery, inner (silicone splint) and outer (splint) molds are placed in your nose, which will remain for 1 week.

  • How long will I stay in the hospital after the operation? Will I have pain? When will I recover?

We recommend that you stay in the hospital for 1 night after the operation. There is almost no pain in rhinoplasty surgeries. There may be swelling and bruises on the face. These complaints are minimized with cold application in the early period. We recipe painkillers on discharge. We recommend that you rest for 7-10 days. After 1 week, we make a tape application by removing the molds inside and outside of your nose. At the end of the 2nd week, we remove these tapes.

  • Can I see the result of the surgery immediately?

You can see the result of the surgery immediately, but it will take about 1 month for the swelling to go down and 6-12 months for the nose to take its final shape.

  • Is the result of the surgery permanent?

The result of the surgery is permanent.

  • What are the risks of the surgery?

Every surgery has risks. There may be early or late complications due to anesthesia or surgery.

Conditions such as bleeding or infection may be observed in the early surgery period. There may be edema-related asymmetries in the nose. There may be numbness at the tip of the nose. These are usually temporary complaints. However, there may rarely be permanent asymmetries. According to the literature, 1 in 10 patients requires secondary interventions for different reasons, requiring minor or a second surgery.
