Breasts are extremely important organs in the aesthetic appearance of the female body. For this reason, breast augmentation surgery is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries today. It is a reliable method that can be used to achieve symmetry in cases of breast deformities, volume insufficiency, or asymmetrical breasts.
During the consultation, your general health status will be assessed. You will be asked about your current illnesses, medications you are taking, any surgeries you have undergone, and any breast diseases in your family. Your pregnancy and breastfeeding history will be taken.
A detailed examination is performed. The volume and sagging of your breasts and the quality of your skin are assessed.
Screening for breast cancer is recommended before any cosmetic breast surgery.
Photos are taken before every cosmetic surgery.
We can use the breast crease, the edge of the nipple, or the armpit to place the prosthesis. Our surgery will leave a scar depending on the location used.
The scar left by the surgery will be permanent. Although it will be more noticeable at first, it will fade within a year.
Today, there are many types of implants (prostheses). They are classified according to their content, shell structure, or shape. Their content may be silicone or saline. Currently, silicone-filled prostheses are used. The shell structure may be smooth or textured. The shape may be anatomical or round. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages.
We can determine the most suitable prosthesis for you together.
The new generation of breast implants are quite durable and will not be damaged unless pierced or cut with a sharp object.
Implants can be placed under the muscle or under the breast tissue. The important thing here is to determine the most suitable location for you in order to achieve natural results. Both plans have advantages and disadvantages. After a detailed examination, we can decide together where to place the implant.
We can decide during your preoperative examination based on the measurement of your breast base, in line with your expectations regarding the size of your breasts.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Depending on the situation, negative pressure tubes called drains may be used to prevent blood and serum from accumulating in the breast.
We recommend staying in the hospital for one night after surgery. You will experience pain that can be controlled with pain medication. We prescribe pain medication and antibiotics after discharge. We recommend resting for 7-10 days. You will also need to wear a special bra for 6 weeks.
You can see the results of the surgery immediately, but the swelling associated with the operation will take about 1 month to subside, and it will take 6-12 months for the breast to take its final shape.
The results of the surgery are permanent. New generation prostheses are suitable for lifelong use. However, a revision surgery may be necessary in later years to address sagging that may develop over time.
Every surgery has risks. There may be early or late complications related to anesthesia or surgery.
In the early postoperative period, bleeding, infection, or wound dehiscence may occur. Mild asymmetry in size and shape between the breasts may be present. Excessive sensitivity or numbness in the nipple may be observed. These are usually temporary complaints.
A complication specific to this surgery is capsular contracture. Any foreign object entering the body is surrounded by a capsule. Although the exact cause is unknown, in some cases this capsule can thicken and harden, causing deformity and even pain in the breast. In such cases, a second surgical procedure is required to remove this capsule.
Another potential risk associated with the capsule is the development of Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL). ALCL is not breast cancer, but rather a type of lymphoma. It does not originate directly from the breast implant. It can develop from the capsule that forms around any foreign object placed in the body. It is a very rare complication.
There is no scientific evidence that breast implants trigger the development of breast cancer or increase its incidence.
ALCL is a disease of the capsule structure that forms around any foreign object entering the body. It is a very rare complication. It should not be confused with breast cancer.
Breast implants do not affect breastfeeding.
Breast implants can certainly be removed. However, depending on how long the implant has been in the body, deformities may occur in the breast.
